5. After I start receiving benefits, what do I have to do to remain eligible?

You must file weekly claims online, be able to work, and be available for work. Utah suggests that you should contact four employers each week to be actively seeking work, and if you fail to contact this number of employers, you may be denied benefits for that week. You must keep a record of your work search contacts, and forms to help you with this can be found in the Claimant Handbook. Also, you are required to complete all ten steps of the work registration for job placement assistance with the Department of Workforce Services. Finally, you must accept suitable work, and report any wages made.

6. I was turned down for benefits. How do I appeal this decision?

An appeal must be in writing, and it may be submitted by fax, by mail, or online. You must continue to file for weekly benefits, as you will only be paid benefits for the weeks you filed if you win your appeal.
